Andrea Yanez has published her latest research exploring advances in soft robotic navigation for minimally invasive procedures.

The article presents the design of a magnetic tip mount for a 7 mm vine robot, enabling wireless magnetic steering while integrating a 1 mm camera with LED illumination, all while preserving tool passage through a 3 mm working channel. This innovative approach allows improved visualisation and control without compromising functionality.

The team successfully demonstrated navigation across bronchial bifurcations in a phantom model, marking an important step towards more controllable and clinically relevant soft robotic systems for accessing complex anatomical spaces.

We warmly congratulate Andrea and extend thanks to her collaborators and supervisors, Joshua Davy, James Chandler, James Avery, and Pietro Valdastri for their continued support and expertise.
